Buddies at the Beach
|

|
On Wednesday, August 21st, after a number of days sailing through the Timor Sea (and finally crossing the border into Western Australia), it was decided by Captain Sarah that a day on the beach would be good fun!
Of course, all the Travel Buddies went ashore. They sat in the sun, collected shells and even had a spirited game of Cannonball, which was won by the Blue Watch team - Hobo, Ducky, Matt and Sandy! To play Cannonball, each team has different coloured balls which they all throw at the white ball. The team with their ball closest to the white one wins a point and the first team to 15 points wins.

The Travel Buddies even had a chance to go exploring and found a cool creek flowing through the mangroves... great for throwing pebbles and shells into to make a splash! If they sat really quietly (which was a little hard to do, because Capt'n Burra kept laughing), they saw some of the birds that lived in the mangroves - honeyeaters, bee-eaters, and stuff.
But, just when they thought it was safe to go for a quick paddle...

Aaaarrghhhh!!! CROCODILE!!!!!!!!!
The Travel Buddies thought they'd better make a run for it, but a little voice piped up behind them.
"It's ok, it's only my Dad."
The little voice belonged to Don, the baby croc, who'd come over to see if any of the Travel Buddies wanted to play.
The rest of the day was spent playing with Don and exploring his home before the Travel Buddies had to say goodbye and get back on the Windeward Bound.
