Photo Gallery - Leg 11 - Bigge Island

The Windeward Bound anchored off Bigge Island, on the Kimberley Coast, where the crew took the opportunity to go ashore for the day.

The sandstone cliffs lining one side of the beach visited on Bigge Island. Caves in the cliffs contain fascinating aboriginal paintings.

Looking out of the caves on Bigge Island, towards the Windeward Bound, anchored off shore.

One of the fascinating aboriginal paintings found in the caves. This one seems to depict a small boat with white men smoking pipes.

A Wandjina figure painted on a cave wall. It is interesting to note the eyes of the Wandjina have been carved out of the rock, a fairly uncommon feature in Wandjina paintings.

Our Australian photographer, Patrick, and reporter, Barclay, use the opportunity ashore to file their latest story via satellite phone.

Bill Fairbanks, one of the Windeward Bound team and designer of the Coastcare Logo, demonstrates the logo in the presence of aboriginal hand paintings.

Melissa, Hannah and Jacqui make the most of their day ashore and go exploring.
