During the months of the 'Matthew Flinders' Circumnavigation Voyage, the Windeward Bound has called into many ports throughout Australia - big cities, fishing villages, tourist destinations, country towns, working ports and remote communities.
In every one of these ports the welcome we have received has been amazing and overwhelmingly friendly. We have been welcomed with open arms and our hosts have held nothing back to make sure our visits have been enjoyable, interesting and trouble-free.
So many organisations have helped us out along the way - local Rotary and Lions Clubs, The Royal Australian Navy, Volunteer Coastal Patrols, Councils, Port Authorities, Yacht Clubs, tug operators, schools and businesses to list a few - and the staff crew of the Windeward Bound would like to extend their thanks for all the efforts made on our behalf.
We would also love to be able to thank the hundreds of individuals who have gone out of their way to lend a helping hand! The list is too huge to be able to name here and in many cases a helping hand was often someone just passing by, fishing off the wharf or in a vessel close by.
Our port visits have been one of the major highlights of this circumnavigation and the crew are keen to return and see more of the places we have spent such short periods of time.
So if you are one of those wonderful people or organisations, or you know of someone who is, the staff crew of the Windeward Bound extend our heartfelt thanks for all you have done. You have helped to make this an experience we will always remember.
